FUN FACTS about Aleisha
Aleisha is passionate about the outdoors and she enjoys walking, biking, and high elevation hiking. Aleisha is also a musician and she regularly performs with a community choir in town. As an artist, she enjoys creative projects such as musical performing, cooking, and painting.
Credentials: Aleisha is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC). She graduated from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH in 2008 with an MA in psychology (clinical emphasis). Aleisha then went on to complete a post-masters certificate program in marriage and family therapy at Denver Family Institute. Aleisha also completed a 32-hour course in Attachment Focused Family Therapy with Dan Hughes in 2013. Additionally, Aleisha trained with Karyn Purvis and her staff in the TBRI (trust based relational intervention) approach for families who've adopted/fostered children. She is also EMDR trained. Aleisha teaches a post-graduate course in family play therapy at Denver Family Institute and is involved in the supervision of master’s level therapists at Denver Family Institute.
Clinical Background: Aleisha has been working in the helping field for over 13 years in various settings. Currently, in her work as a licensed therapist, she works with individuals, couples, and families. Her areas of experience include attachment/adoption, trauma, parenting, addiction, children/teens, relationship conflict, domestic violence, and couples/family transitions. Before entering private practice, Aleisha worked in community mental health as a family therapist and addictions counselor. Aleisha has also worked for the Griffith Centers for Children, where she provided intensive in-home family therapy for families in need. Aleisha is currently in private practice.
Services: Couples and family therapy, therapy for adoptive families, individual therapy, children/adolescents, addiction counseling, parent and professional training. Aleisha uses a strengths-based approach that is rooted in trauma-informed care, solution focused therapy, attachment focused therapy, and interpersonal neurobiology. Aleisha is EMDR trained, and has also been trained in the following attachment focused approached: Attachment Focused Family Therapy (Dan Hughes), Trust Based Relational Intervention (Karyn Purvis), and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (Stan Tatkin).
