FUN FACTS about Julia
Julia speaks Spanish and Italian and has lived in Italy, Argentina and most recently in Japan. She loves cooking, trail running, playing the cello and ceramics. Her current favorite book is A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki.
Credentials: Julia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver. Julia also has a Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the Denver Family Institute.
Clinical Background: Julia has been working with children and families in various settings. She worked for three years in the Bay Area as a high school mild/moderate special education teacher and Spanish teacher. During graduate school Julia worked as a mentor for children in out-of-home care in Denver and at Colorado Children's Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. She spent two years at Aurora Mental Health Center running therapeutic skills groups with children ages 9-11 who lived in foster care, kinship care, residential care and adoptive homes with the Fostering Healthy Futures Program. While at Aurora Mental Health Center also worked with children who had experienced trauma with the Safe Start Program using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Julia has experience working with people at all different life stages-- young adults, parents, and older adults. Her specialty is work with children ages 6 and up struggling in school, at home or in social settings, having trouble with anxiety, depression or ADHD, with a divorce or a traumatic event.
